Clomid is the commonly referenced brand name for the drug clomiphene citrate. It is not an anabolic steroid, but a prescription drug generally prescribed to women as a fertility aid. This is due to the fact that clomiphene citrate shows a pronounced ability to stimulate ovulation. This is accomplished by blocking/minimizing the effects of estrogen in the body. To be more specific Clomid is chemically a synthetic estrogen with both agonist/antagonist properties, and is very similar in structure and action to Nolvadex. In certain target tissues it can block the ability of estrogen to bind with its corresponding receptor. Its clinical use is therefore to oppose the negative feedback of estrogens on the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which enhances the release of LH and FSH. This of course can help to induce ovulation.
There are two distinct benefits of Clomid :
Many anabolic androgenic steroids convert to estrogen via the aromatase process which can lead to estrogenic related side-effects commonly associated with steroid use. Most notably is the side-effect known as GynecomastiaWhile Clomid will not reduce the amount of estrogen in the body it will block it from attaching to the receptors and often aid in combatin such negative side-effects.
The second benefit of Clomid use is by far the most valuable to any anabolic steroid user and it is during his PCT period. The use of anabolic steroids will suppress natural testosterone production;
Proper Clomid Dosage – PCT:
Most who supplement with this SERM will be best served at beginning at 150mg per day for at least a couple weeks and then slowly tapering down. While a 150mg per day Clomid dosage can be very effective there are those who are going to need a little more but we can safely say a dosing plan that begins lower than this after any serious anabolic steroid cycle really isn’t going to do much and will be worth very little.
A Better Clomid Cycle:
Week 1: Clomid 150mg per day
Week 2: Clomid 150mg per day
Week 3: Clomid 100mg per day
Week 4: Clomid 100mg per day
Week 5: Clomid 50mg per day
(add an extra week at 50mg per day if needed)
Clomifene Citrate Clomid Effects
The most common cause of anovulation is polycystic ovarian syndrome, PCOS. Women who do not ovulate without drugs are said to have a condition called anovulation.
Clomid is often given to try to induce ovulation in women that do not develop and release an egg (ovulate) on their own.
Clomifene citrate is used in some cases of unexplained infertility, and is used for the treatment for ovulation disorders caused by problems such as polycystic ovaries or polycystic ovary syndrome, also used on its own or in combination with another drug called metformin, which you take daily in several doses.
